In a decision he says “was not easy”, Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey will be stepping down from his role to take time for himself and his wife.
“The Liberal Party will go through a process now of electing a new candidate, Minister Ramsey says.
“It’s a time of change, and a time of what people would consider a lot of options, but we need to go through that process and hopefully we’ll select someone that will work hard.”
Looking forward to his next chapter after warming the seat for over 16 years, he says the decision is bittersweet.
“It’s a very big physical and mental challenge this job – it’s a wonderful job… it’s a great privilege and there’s things you can do to fix up people’s lives in small ways.
“Then, of course, opening the door for major investments for dealing with major issues with any one of the 27 councils that spread themselves across Grey.
“There’s always opportunities to do and help things and make life better.”
The Minister says he and his wife Teresa have given the role everything they have.
