A man has been found dead in the search for missing boat crew members in waters near Port Lincoln.
Just after 8:30pm last night, 25 March, police were alerted that five people who set off in a fishing vessel from Port Lincoln yesterday morning had not returned.
Boats and aircraft were launched to find the missing people in a search effort coordinated by Police Water Operations Unit and Port Lincoln Police.
Messages were also shared across marine radio channels to alert other vessels to the search.
Around 2am today, 26 March, PolAir located an upturned boat near Spilsby Island, and a 44-year-old man and 13-year-old boy from Torrens Park were found on a reef.
They were winched to safety and taken to hospital where they’re being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Around 6:30am, a third person was found deceased in the water.
The search is continuing for the remaining two people.
