A number of local sporting groups and community organisations have received thousands of dollars to improve their facilities.
The successful applicants in the 2023-24 Community Recreation and Sports Facilities Program were announced on Monday, with over $5 million given to groups in the grant round.
In Port Lincoln, the Boston Sports Association received $164,000 to install four light towers with LED lights at Poole Oval, whilst the City of Port Lincoln received $325,000 to upgrade and refurbish five unisex changerooms at the Ravendale Sporting Complex.
Across the region, the Streaky Bay Area School Council received nearly $50,000 to install a shed with a solar heating system at the local community pool, whilst the Whyalla Hockey Association received $110,000 to install six light towers at the city’s sporting community club.
