Port Lincoln residents have one more day to have their say on the future of five Council-owned parcels of land.
The Port Lincoln Council are proposing to revoke the community land classification on Harbour View Reserve to Highview Drive, Seaview Park to Monalena Street, Trigg Street Reserve to Willison Street, 10 Oswald Drive and 25 Chapman Street.
Proposed uses for the sites include aged care, childcare, housing and community services.
Community consultation had been open since mid-May, with the Council running community information sessions at each of the sites to answer questions and concerns from residents.
In response to the proposal, a group of locals formed the Save Harbour View Reserve group, to raise awareness of the importance of the land to nearby residents.
The group planned a rally in just four days earlier this month, which saw over 250 people turn up.
Group member Tijana Harding said the rally was a great opportunity for community members to share their concerns for the land’s future.
“A lot of people value and utilise Harbour View Reserve. It’s really important that we don’t lose that space,” she said.
Port Lincoln Mayor Diana Mislov also attended the rally, and said she hoped all attendees would put their submissions in writing.
Public feedback on the proposal is open until 10am on Thursday, 12 June.
All submissions must be in writing, and can be submitted online via the Council’s Engagement Hub, or via a hardcopy at the Council office.
