A talented local footy player is headed to the AFL.
Jacob Newton has been selected by the West Coast Eagles for Pick 9 in the Mid-Season Draft.
The 19-year-old is originally from Elliston and came through Norwood’s junior pathway program, where he mostly played as a strong midfielder in the U16 and U18 level.

Jacob was overlooked in last year’s National Draft due to an untimely foot injury.
He has played four SANFL matches for Norwood in 2025, making his debut in Round 3.
