A new Indigenous Ranger program in the Cooper Basin has reached a major milestone, with its first recruits now trained and working on Country across one of Australia’s most remote regions.

The program, backed by Santos and Beach Energy, will see more than 15 Indigenous rangers care for more than 130,000 square kilometres of land, spanning from northern South Australia to southwest Queensland.

The $12 million initiative aims to create employment pathways for Traditional Owner groups and strengthening cultural connections.
