The Whyalla community are taking a moment to reminisce, as the future of their Civic Building is up in the air.
The building – which was visited by the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh in 1986 – faces serious structural issues.
Current member and former CEO of Whyalla City Council David Knox says the building holds a special place in the hearts of the local community.
“The building has so many memories for people in Whyalla, Mr Knox says.
“I remember going there when I was about 12 when the theatre opened in 1961 to see the movies, particularly the matinees… It was always a really good day out and lots of kids from Whyalla attended.”
Guided tours will be conducted between 10am-2pm on Sunday, 22 October.
