More than a dozen new correctional officers have begun work at two local prisons…
It comes amid a recruitment and workforce boost, with 14 grads to be stationed at Port Augusta and Port Lincoln Prisons.
The new recruits completed eight weeks of classroom-based training and four weeks of in-service training, paving the way for nine months on roster in probationary roles.
This is the third trainee correctional officer school to graduate this year, with another two still to come – bringing the total number of new recruits to over 100.
SA has the lowest re-offending rate in the country and the new officers will help further reduce this rate.
