The ute left the scene, however it was located a short time later at a local caravan park.

The driver of the vehicle, a 25-year-old local man, allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.202 – more than four times the legal limit.

Further police checks on the ute revealed it had not been registered since 2024.

The man was reported for failing to stop at the scene of a crash, driving unregistered and drink driving.

He was issued with an instant loss of licence for 12 months and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days.
