Cash incentives for vegetation protection

A new program is encouraging landholders to protect native vegetation on their properties.

Over 140 hectares of native vegetation in Cleve and Cowell is being protected under the Biodiversity Credit Exchange program, facilitated by the Department for Environment and Water and the Eyre Peninsula Landscape Board on behalf of the Native Vegetation Council.

The program gives eligible landholders access to funding for the protection, management and restoration of native vegetation on their properties.

The resulting improvements create a biodiversity credit that land managers can cash in with the Native Vegetation Council.
