The West Coast Justices Group is calling for local volunteers to become Justices of the Peace (JPs), as regional communities face growing delays accessing essential services.
With fewer active JPs across the region, residents are increasingly having to travel long distances or wait extended periods to get documents witnessed or certified.
JPs provide vital support by witnessing signatures, certifying documents, and handling statutory declarations and affidavits — all at a local level. The group says more volunteers are needed to ensure these free, community-based services remain accessible.
Anyone community-minded, reliable, and interested in giving back is encouraged to apply. Training is provided through TAFE SA, and applications can be made via the South Australian Government website.
For more information or support with applying, contact West Coast Justices Group Chairman John Rumbelow on 0400 222 929 or Secretary Sue Rumbelow on 0427 468 000.
