Research shows young people across the EP struggling with body image are not alone.
90% of Australian teenagers have had some level of body image concern, with nearly half disliking the way they look.
Half of the surveyed teenagers said it impacts their participation in class, and two thirds said it has prevented them from participating in physical activities.
Manager of Education Services at the Butterfly Foundation Helen Bird says there is support available to young locals.
“If people across the region want to find out a little bit more about body image and positive strategies, the Butterfly website is a great place to start – particularly our Body Kind Schools and Body Kind Families initiatives.”
