Biosecurity inspection fee waived for farmers

The State Government will waive inspection fees for fodder imported from interstate, marking a win for drought-stricken local farmers.

Primary Industries Minister Clare Scriven announced that farmers would no longer have to pay $167 an hour for biosecurity officers to inspect hay purchased from pest-infested regions.

Inspections will still continue, but at no cost to drought-affected farmers.

This comes after mounting pressure from both farmers and the State Opposition over the fee.

Rebates will also be available retrospectively for fees paid since November.
