Housing SA, Port Lincoln Rotary, Aboriginal Family Services and Centacare banded together at Whait Reserve yesterday to support Port Lincoln’s Anti-Poverty Week event.
They cooked up a stir fry and sausage sizzle, and provided tea, coffee and fresh produce for attendees.
With more than 3-million people living below the poverty line in Australia, Kerry Schubert from the Department of Human Services says there are resources for locals doing it tough.
“The services in Port Lincoln are phenomenal and they all collaborate with each other, so what they don’t know, they’ll ask another service, or they’ll refer someone onto another service,” Ms Schubert says.
