Aboriginal Footy Carnival Draws Thousands To Lincoln

Thousands flocked to Port Lincoln over the weekend for a celebration of Indigenous footy.

Former Crow, Eddie Betts, and current Geelong small forward, Tyson Stengle, thrilled a crowd of around 5,000 as they laced up the boots for the annual SA Aboriginal Football and Netball Carnival.

It was a sort of homecoming for Betts who donned the Mallee Park jumper for the first time in 20 years, while Stengle represented Koonibba – the country’s oldest surviving Aboriginal club, established back in 1906.

The Grand Final saw the two stars go up against each other, with Mallee Park taking the title.
