Half of the Avengers are back for their biggest movie event yet! If you're not one of the lucky ones with a cinema screening it near you, it's easy to feel left behind, so if you want to stay in the loop without spoiling story secrets for yourself, here's everything we know.
The Story Takes Place After the Events of Iron Man
This figures, as the original Iron Man was the first movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ths new Avengers is coming out at least ten years later, ergo it's set after. But that's the progression of time for ya.
Endgame Will Run Over Three Hours
The confirmed runtime is close to 181 minutes, which is the longest Marvel film yet but not as long as Titanic, The Right Stuff or The Godfather: Part II which are not part of the Marvel saga.
The Movie Was Shot on The Arri Alexa
The Arri Alexa is a favourite digital camera for shoting big budget movies, and has been used by Marval ever since the first Thor. They used to shoot these on film but these days, film is reserved only for films like the Star Wars sequel trilogy and, for some truly bizarre reason, Detective Pikachu.
Robert Downey Jnr.'s Middle Name is 'John'
It's true, I looked it up on wikipedia.
The Film Will Have An End Credits
Whilst it's unknown whether the film will have a scene either during or after the credits, it is known that the film will have credits. These come standard on feature films, as they help the crew and visual effects teams find future work. There are a lot of visual effects artists on these Marvel movies, so it would be a real dog move on Disney's part if they decded to rob them of heir moment in the sun. Also, it makes their mums proud.
My Dad Has Never Heard of the Avengers.
I mentioned to my Dad I was going to see it and he asked "is that a movie?" which shocked me. My step-mum knew what I was talking about, even though she thought Chris Evans' character was called "Captain Action", so I guess my Dad really is just under a rock. At the very least I thought he'd think I was seeing a movie based on the British spy show The Avengers from the 1960s, starring Patrick McNee and Diana Rigg. Clearly this was too much to ask.
The Film's Bulgarian Title Will Be Отмъстителите: Краят
It's not as catchy as "Endgame" but I'm sure it will still get bums on seats!
It's Slated to be Released as a Film
Bad news for those hoping to see this released as a book or a tweet, this is a feature length film.
There's just so much to look forward to! For a more nuanced look at the inner workings of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this video essay may prove insightful!
